This is an instance when, as in some football games, the participants should have been left alone to defend and advance their positions.
In football, there are games when the referees get too involved and change the outcomes of those games. In other words, they allow the rules to interfere with what could be a great game.
The rules in the following video definitely saved Holder's bacon today, and they did it by getting in the way of what could have been great.
