Indiana College Bans National Anthem say it is "Too Violent"

Goshen College in Indiana has banned the "The Star Spangled Banner: at all sporting events because the Mennonite school's president considers the National Anthem's words to be too violent.

CONSERVABLOGGER COMMENT:

Here are the words to our National Anthem.

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
Tis the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

-History -

History: In 1814, about a week after the city of Washington had been badly burned, British troops moved up to the primary port at Baltimore Harbor in Maryland.

Francis Scott Key visited the British fleet in the Harbor on September 13th to secure the release of Dr. William Beanes who had been captured during the Washington raid.

The two were detained on the ship so as not to warn the Americans while the Royal Navy attempted to bombard Fort McHenry.

At dawn on the 14th, Key noted that the huge American flag, which now hangs in the Smithsonian's American History Museum, was still waving and had not been removed in defeat.

The sight inspired him to write a poem titled Defense of Fort McHenry. The poem was eventually set to music that had originally been written by English composer John Stafford Smith for a song titled "The Anacreontic Song". The end result was the inspiring song now considered the national anthem of the United States of America.

It was accepted as such by public demand for the next century or so, but became even more accepted as the national anthem during the World Series of Baseball in 1917 when it was sung in honor of the brave armed forces fighting in the Great War. The World Series performance moved everyone in attendance, and after that it was repeated for every game.

Finally, on March 3, 1931, the American Congress proclaimed it as the national anthem, 116 years after it was first written.
---------------
So, to that idiotic college I say you should be ashamed. The national anthem is a song that proclaims triumph over tyranny.

Would you have citizens peacefully walk into gas chambers or fight?

My point is that there are times when war is justified and necessary.   That said, our nation secured the people's liberty by FIGHTING for it!

Peace is a good thing, but when the crap hits the fan, peace might have to take a back seat so liberty can be preserved.

I Guess Obama is Giving in to Temptation (See video)

Obama has alot of nerve.  He shamelessly signs an executive order instituting most elements of the controversial 'Dream act' this past Friday prior to leaving on his vacation.

Obama imposes his radical beliefs circumventing the legislative process as defined in the constitution.

Now, get a load of what the president says in this address where he talks about how doing things "on his own"... "is not the way the constitution is written".

I guess he changed his mind about that:

The below  Video does a better job explaining the extent of Obama's reversal.

NEW YORK – Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain has turned his famously sharp tongue against his fellow celebrity chefs, the New York Post reported Thursday.

In an interview in this week's "TV Guide", Bourdain calls Paula Deen "the worst, most dangerous person to America" for her artery-clogging style of cooking.

"She revels in unholy connections with evil corporations, and she's proud of the fact that her food is f--king bad for you," Bourdain said of the Food Network star, who is famous for her butter-heavy recipes... READ FULL Fox News ARTICLE
Conservablogger comment:

I don't think Paula is the reason for the obesity epidemic in this nation.  The epidemic is caused by a government that sustains a population that doesn't have to work  and earn money for sustineence.  This, coupled with sedentary activities like video games, tv computer use and other "leisure" inactivities is what has caused obesity.

Kids arent MADE to go PLAY OUTSIDE any more and the result of all of this is fat people.

Have you ever seen folks who are on welfare getting food stamps?  I've seen many in the grocery checkout, and most  are morbidly obese.

Another contributor is  fast foods and poor nutritional choices at the supermarket.  Trust me, they know what foods are bad... they don't care and engage in  little activity to counteract those  terrible foods.
I for instance, am not going to go stuffing butter into my burgers, but if Paula Dean likes to cook them that way on TV and other people choose to try it, its their right... it's their perogative. This is still a free damn country.

As far as being in with coorporations, good for Paula!  She has earned every bit of where she is today in her career...  where she is her business.  It is not the business  of the  dork who has made these redidulous charges.

Idiot, Garofalo: Herman Cain "Being Paid To Run"

It's hard to believe anyone listens to this nonsense.

This woman is  insulting and snobbish as she demeans  rural Amrrica, which she  seems to beleive is  full of racists.

America, this is the kind of crap we're up against.

Letter to President Obama about His Job Speech coming in September

Dear Mr. President;

I hear you're giving another Speech in September… imagine that. And, this one is going to be about your plan to create jobs… to get the job market going again, right?

PLEASE….

Give me a break, Mr. President…

I like how you’re always talking about creating jobs. I think you’re talking only about union jobs. These days I believe most union jobs are public sector jobs…mostly the ones sustained with public funds (tax revenue). They are not self-sustaining jobs, in that they do not create capital.

What? Am I wrong?

Didn’t unions help propel you to The White House?
When you talk about infrastructure: Roads and bridges, you’re talking about Union jobs, right?

When you talk about “more investments” aren’t you’re talking about getting more “workers” for unions?

This makes many people uncomfortable. You see, incase you didn’t know, it is a widely held belief that Union heads are power hungry, and wield their influence to force a political and social agenda that is contrary to the health and stability of our God-endowed-constitutionally-recognized liberty.

When you talk about “getting folks back to work” I’m afraid that you mean only growing the number of union jobs while your various departments puts the squeeze on large and small private businesses (the job creators) who ACTUALLY create capital addomg to the treasury.

Aren’t your departments promoting an anti-business atmosphere through various regulations that would never clear congress?

A couple  examples are: Cap and Trade through the EPA, requiring farmers get CDLs through the DOT. Mr. President, don’t these kinds of regulations necessitate and require the hiring of more public sector jobs?

I see, so that’s how you are growing the economy; more government jobs!

What bold thinking on your part.

Lets see if your next speech talks about  expanding the private sector job market.

If you go this route, don’t take offence If folks don't  believe you. I’ll start believing when you put your money where your mouth is.

Rick Perry: "Almost Treasonous" is Fed Chairman (Video)

Do you think he's right?

From what I've seen and heard, the left is having a coniption over Perry's comments.

Why? Because his opinion is right on target. They don't want average Americans in on it. If they realized the damage the Fed is doing they would be up in arms Just like Perry is here.

Bachman's Straw Poll win 'Just Another Straw on the Back of 'Business-as -usual'

By winning the Iowa straw poll, I believe Michele Bachman will continue to move the other candidates toward the right side of the political spectrum.

There are many votes that the eventual Republican nominee will want to call his own in order to win  the presidential election.

Take her straw poll win in conjuction with last November's election landslide, and you get a field of candidates who  must openly celebrate and promote  their conservative values.

So, I am greateful to Michele Bachman for hanging in there.  I respect her will-power  and focus on doing the right things for America.

Whether she is nominated or not, she and her Tea Party have changed the discussion.

News Report of Bachman's Win... they also talk about mit Romney and Rick Perry.

Rick Perry Announces Bid for Presidency

I guess I've lost my focus because I don't quite know what to make of Rick Perry, the Texas Governor.
The few things I've heard him say fit the traditional Republican mantra, but apparently he has a record that supports his words.

I've heard that half of all jobs created in the U.S. since Obama became president cam in the state of Texas, because the governor led efforts to make Texas a business friendly state.

I'd say we need that kind of person in theOval Office, not our current seat holder who wants to continue regulating and increasing taxes.

Here is Rick Perry announcing his bid for the job of President:

Appeals Court Rules Obamacare Mandate is Unconstitutional

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law suffered a setback on Friday when an appeals court ruled that it was unconstitutional to require all Americans to buy insurance or face a penalty.

The U.S. Appeals Court for the 11th Circuit, based in Atlanta, ruled 2 to 1 that Congress exceeded its authority by requiring Americans to buy coverage, but it unanimously reversed a lower court decision that threw out the entire law.   more...

Newt Gingrich makes Minced Meat of Chris Wallace and Wins Iowa Debate

I say Newt won the debat because I had just about written him off; that is until his performance tonight.   Actually, about 6 months ago I would have volunteered to serve on his campaign, then all I heard was he had issues with his campaign staff and there seemed to be a media blackout of his campaign afterward.

Tonight in the Fox News Republican Debate in Iowa, Newt captured my attention again.

I firmly believe, after seeing this debate, that he is probably the most qualified person present... he is by far more intelligent than the reporters questioning him.

Listen to his response to Chris Wallace pertaining to his campaign issues:

He had many other remarks that were refreshing.  I'll look for other videos and post them  here at  Conservablogger.

Mitt Romney - One Voter's Opinion - Should we vote for him?

I watched Mit Momney on CSPAN today. He was at the Iowa State Fair giving remaks, then answering some pointed questions about his stance on raising corporate taxes and entitlement spending.

This is the first time I observed Romney on TV. I never heard him speak before.

In fact, the reason I stopped on CSPAN to watch this event was just to see and hear what all the hype is about concerning his high standing in the polls.

He's always placing 1st in straw and other polls; ahead of all the other people competing for the Republican nomination. So, I wanted to see for myself what others see in this cat.

What I think I heard was a fellow whose been in politics a long time. He's well coached, and hit all the classic Republican talking points.

The first George Bush could have been standing there and I wouldn't have been able to discern their content.

I almost heard Romney say, "No New Taxes"... But alas, he didn't actually say those exact words.

So, I listened, and I observed his mannerisms and begin forming my own opinion of him.

First, I think he has too much starch in his collar. His words speak the same tired montra of the old Republican Party that has helped bring our nation to the brink of financial ruin, and his tone lacks and conviction.... in my opinion.
genuineness

So, I went on line to find a video of the Iowa State Fair remarks to give him another chance: to see if I'd feel the same way after watching it again.

That's  when I came upon this little video which kinda confirmed my origional suspicions.

What are your thoughts?

Barney Frank Cuts the Cheese in MSNBC - LIVE

It can't be prooven, but it is the general concensus that Barney Frank rips a good one while commenting on the ultra-liberal network, MSNBC.

I'd say Frank, a staunch liberal is liberating some methane in this video, wouldn't you agree?

As you can see, the shifty Senator appears quite shifty until 'the sound' then he appears much more relaxed.

Now, there is nothing 'wrong' with Frank cutting the cheese,  everyone does it... now if we could only get him to cut spending.

Magazine's Politics Evident in Bachman Articles

The New Yorker and the Newsweek have recently written articles that delve into Michele Bachman's rise in the political spectrum.

They attempt to paint Bachman as a radical whose beliefs are outside of even most conservatives.

FOR MORE INFO ON THESE ARTICLES, CLICK HERE - FOR THE FIREWIRE PIECE ON THIS TOPIC.

Conservablogger Comment:
This is pure propaganda and its coming from a position of fear.  Progressives such as those in Media Matters don't want or like strong-independant minded-conservative-women gaining footholds in national politics, so they marginalize.

In these articles they make Bachman out to be 'crazy', inconsistant, and otherwise unfit.  I think Bachman should take every opportunity that comes along to speak to America.

I, for one, cant hear her speak enough.   I believe the more people learn about her,  from her, the better off her campaign will be.

I don't think she needs to spend all her time directly refuting any charges.   I'm simply saying she should keep speaking about policies, her beliefs, her titanium backbone, and all the things that set her apart form the croud.

The left right now is afraid because they see their socialist , marxist one-world-government-crap coming apart at the seems.

We can't get lazy.

America, we must keep our families informed.  Use twitter, facebook and every social media at your disposal to shed sunlight on all leftist propaganda you encounter.

By keeping eachother informed, crap planted in rags like the two publications at the beginning of this post, will never take root and spread.

After Agreement is Made, Obama says 'Wealthy & Corporations Must Pay ‘Fair Share’

The president actually believes he scored a victory and has Rebuplicans on the ropes because they caved in to avoid dreaded default.

He still insist on making the wealthy and corporations pay their fair share.  As if what they pay isn't already their 'fair share'.

My comment is, when 48% of the populations pays no taxes at all, while 52% does, how can making the wealthy pay more be fair?

I say, start cutting some of the child tax credits and other vote-buying gimicks.  That would 'actually' make it more fair.   Nevermind the fact that the wealthy and corporations provide alot of jobs.

While we're at it, lets allow companies who have foreign holdings to bring their money back tax free.  Lets ease some regulations and allow businesses to thrive, rather than smother them under mountains of red tape and threats of increased taxes and a mandate to provide health insurance; if you're one of Obama's union corporation buddies, this last horse-collar doesn't apply).

This should be a business friendly nation.

Why should businesses be penalized for having the where-with-all and the drive to risk everything only to be beat down by the government?

Everyone should be taxed at the same rate!  And you should call your reps to let 'em know.

Here's the president:

Fighting back against Union Bull-Crap in Wisconsin

I received this email today and thought I would share it with you.  No need in me prefacing this because it is self-explanatory:

"Friends,
Last week we stood strong in Washington and had a major impact on the debate. While we did not get Cut, Cap & Balance, we stopped Congress from giving President Obama a blank check. We stopped Congress from allowing President Obama and Harry Reid to raise taxes in order to pay for their spending addiction.

Now we are on to the next big battle of the recall elections in Wisconsin. We have partnered with Tea Party Express for a “Restoring Common Sense” tour to support the Republican Senators that are being recalled.

Usually politicians are recalled for not doing their jobs. These Senators did their jobs! They went to Madison and worked with Governor Walker to balance the state budget, while 14 Democrat Senators fled to neighboring states. Now, they are being unfairly targeted because they stood on conservative principles in order to restore fiscal responsibility to the state.

There is no battle more important in our country right now. President Obama and his Organizing for America, along with the SEIU, AFL-CIO and MoveOn.org have all pumped money into this state in an effort to recall these Republicans. If the Republicans are recalled, it will only embolden the left.

We must stand strong for fiscal responsibility and reign in the out of control spending that plagues Washington and state houses across the country!

We are traveling across Wisconsin and holding rallies for the next four days. You can find the tour schedule HERE.

Yesterday, we kicked off the tour with stops in Hudson and La Crosse.

In Hudson, we had a very successful rally after being greeted by at least 50 union thugs. They were nasty, mean and obnoxious, but that is to be expected. We are a threat to their liberal agenda.
Today we are headed to Kenosha and Thiensville. We are headed into the heart of liberal land, so we expect many more union protestors.
We will update you later on today's stops, but we need your help now.
What can you do to help this effort?

Please stand with us and support our efforts to stand for fiscal responsibility by making a generous contribution HERE. While George Soros and big labor money fund the left, individual supporters like you fund us!

Follow American Grassroots Coalition live on Facebook and Twitter.
We will be blogging each day from the road and adding pictures from the rallies. You can stay updated on our travels HERE.

Wisconsin needs our support and we need your support! We cannot do this without you. "

Oprah is Endorsing Obama - She didn't influence my Opinion the First Time around.

First let me say, Obama's skin color has nothing to do with why I don't like him as our president.

In today's Issue of Firewire, it is being reported that Oprah Winfrey is again endorsing Obama's presidency.

I have to say, I used to think highly of Oprah.

If she is on the 'wealth distribution bandwagon', as well as the 'social justice' & 'collective salvation' bandwagon that Obama is on, I do not like her anymore.

She endorsed a man who wants to fundamentally transform America.  And, with friends like Trumpka, Van Jones and George Soros,  he was doing a pretty good jub... still is when you take account of the actions of his  cabinet.

Through various departments, cap and trade and other restrictive-job-killing-rules are being made which industries will have to comply with.

These rules will 'necessarily' drive up not only the cost of energy, but food as well.

Obama is making this stuff happen.  So, all of Oprah's credability is lost, as far as I'm concerned.

Here is a video of her singing Obama's praises in a 2008 campaign rally.
