Georgia Sheriff Pulls Business form Arms Company that Ceased Semi-auto sales to civilians

Dana Safety Supply, a major distributor of weapons and accessories to police departments and civilians across the United States, has declared that they will no longer sell semi-automatic rifles to civilians. Instead, they will only sell to law enforcement. This prompted Oconee County, Georgia Sheriff Scott Barry to write them an email in which he told them he would no longer be seeking them out to purchase products for his department based on their decision.

Sheriff Barry wrote the following email to DSS:
Sirs,
It is my understanding that you have stopped selling self loading rifles to members of the general public in favor of selling them to law enforcement officers only.
I deeply regret that decision. As such, this agency will no longer seek bids from or purchase from DSS.
Thank you for your time and attention to this email.

A call to the headquarters of DSS resulted in a political answer of “we appreciate your call, but are in the midst of consulting to form a proper response.” They would neither confirm nor deny the report when called on Friday. Apparently their website and postings outside their businesses are more forthcoming than their headquarters.

My hat is off to Sheriff Barry! In fact, Barry popped up on Fox Business for an interview.
In the interview, when asked why he would not longer be purchasing from DSS, Sheriff Barry said that since law abiding citizens couldn’t purchase a legal weapon there with money they have, then he wasn’t going to “spend their tax money” at such a business and he wasn’t going to “spend his personal money there” either. Come on! This guy is my kind of Sheriff!

When asked if it would “make his job easier” if “assault” rifles weren’t being sold and “out there,” Sheriff Barry responded by correcting the host that they were semi-automatic rifles, not assault rifles. He then went on to point out that there were millions of these weapons in America, but that “statistically an insignificant number of them are used to commit any kind of crime.”

Sheriff Barry was right on weapons and people. “Rifles of any type just don’t bother me,” he said. “Handguns of any type just don’t bother me. The truth is that in the hands of criminals they are tools of evil, but in the vast majority of hands, they are owned by law abiding citizens.”

When the host asked why take the term “assault rifle” off the table, the Sheriff responded by stating that the definition of the term is as “wide and as broad” as the building he was sitting in. The Sheriff described that an assault weapon was a military weapon that was designed for military purpose. “Semi-automatic rifles just aren’t assault rifles,” he said. “You can call them that, but that’s just not what they are.”
The host then asked Barry what his reaction to the Brady campaigns’ rating of an 8 out of 100 on Georgia’s regulations on firearms was. According to the host, who was citing the Brady campaign, the reasons for the low rating was because there was “no limits on gun purchases, no required background checks for gun show purchases, and no ban on ‘assault’ weapons,” Sheriff Barry said that he was “hoping to shoot for a lower number than that.” He did address the issue of the supposed “required background checks at gun shows” by stating that “law abiding citizens can sell guns in the parking lot or on the floor of a gun show.” He doesn’t know where they get the idea that it’s required to do a background check. He was emphatic in stating that he can sell his gun to anyone else no matter where he is at. The Sheriff rightly pointed out that one goes through the same process if they buy a gun through a dealer at a gun show that someone goes through at a standard brick and mortar store to purchase a firearm. He called the Brady statement concerning gun shows a “scare tactic.”

Barry said that Georgia believes in the Second Amendment and that means that law abiding citizens should be able to carry and buy firearms.

The story until now:
• September 12, 2012: Hobby Lobby files suit against Kathleen Sabelius and the US Department of Health and Human Services in US District Court for Western District of Oklahoma. They are represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty.

• November 19, 2012: District Judge Joe Heaton rules that privately owned companies such as Hobby Lobby are not exempt from the HHS Mandate on religious grounds because these enterprises do not possess the same religious rights as individuals and religious organizations do.

• December 20, 2012: The US Court of Appeals in Denver rules against Hobby Lobby on the same grounds as the lower court; the Green family vows to appeal to the US Supreme Court.

• December 26, 2012: Justice Sonia Sotomayor rejects an emergency request for injunction that would allow Hobby Lobby temporary exemption from the HHS Mandate pending the hearing of their full case before the high court.

• December 27, 2012: Hobby Lobby’s attorneys announce that the chain plans to defy the Mandate which will take effect January 1st, potentially costing the chain (which employs 13,000) hundreds of millions of dollars in fines by the time their case is finally decided.

The letter from Hobby Lobby CEO David Green that LifeNews received follows:

When my family and I started our company 40 years ago, we were working out of a garage on a $600 bank loan, assembling miniature picture frames. Our first retail store wasn’t much bigger than most people’s living rooms, but we had faith that we would succeed if we lived and worked according to God‘s word. From there, Hobby Lobby has become one of the nation’s largest arts and crafts retailers, with more than 500 locations in 41 states. Our children grew up into fine business leaders, and today we run Hobby Lobby together, as a family.

We’re Christians, and we run our business on Christian principles. I’ve always said that the first two goals of our business are (1) to run our business in harmony with God’s laws, and (2) to focus on people more than money. And that’s what we’ve tried to do. We close early so our employees can see their families at night. We keep our stores closed on Sundays, one of the week’s biggest shopping days, so that our workers and their families can enjoy a day of rest. We believe that it is by God’s grace that Hobby Lobby has endured, and he has blessed us and our employees. We’ve not only added jobs in a weak economy, we’ve raised wages for the past four years in a row. Our full-time employees start at 80% above minimum wage.

But now, our government threatens to change all of that. A new government health care mandate says that our family business MUST provide what I believe are abortion-causing drugs as part of our health insurance. Being Christians, we don’t pay for drugs that might cause abortions, which means that we don’t cover emergency contraception, the morning-after pill or the week-after pill. We believe doing so might end a life after the moment of conception, something that is contrary to our most important beliefs. It goes against the Biblical principles on which we have run this company since day one. If we refuse to comply, we could face $1.3 million PER DAY in government fines.

Our government threatens to fine job creators in a bad economy. Our government threatens to fine a company that’s raised wages four years running. Our government threatens to fine a family for running its business according to its beliefs. It’s not right. I know people will say we ought to follow the rules; that it’s the same for everybody. But that’s not true. The government has exempted thousands of companies from this mandate, for reasons of convenience or cost. But it won’t exempt them for reasons of religious belief.

So, Hobby Lobby – and my family – are forced to make a choice. With great reluctance, we filed a lawsuit today, represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, asking a federal court to stop this mandate before it hurts our business. We don’t like to go running into court, but we no longer have a choice. We believe people are more important than the bottom line and that honoring God is more important than turning a profit.

 As he tries releasing the cat, it doesn't pull  its paw out at first,  and it gets re-clamped. 

 Soon after, the cat is released but doesn't run away... at first. 

 Instead it sits there looking and sounding VERY ticked off. Then, as it takes a few steps toward the guy, I laughed when the guy remarked, "Oh man!  He wants some of this...  I think he wants some!"

'll tell you what.  Lot of things have the potential to cause great harm.  The problem are not the guns, the problem is the Government which has aided the erosion of our national values and identity.

Gun confiscation would not be a legally  recognized government  action by many, many Americans; including myself.  We have the Constitution.  If we allow them to wipe their asses with it on this, they will be emboldened to mess with the others more than they've done already.

If the media and political elite were honest, they would listen hard to what this man is saying.

But, they are not honest.  They are hell bent on politicizing this incident to restrict our right to keep and bear arms.

Without question, Newtown is a horrific tragedy.  But,  it's because there are restrictions on firearms that things like this happen more often.

If schools were not "gun free zones", maybe this insane shooter would have thought twice; might have decided against his tragic course of action.

Our Constitution restricts the government.  The Second Amendment 'is supposed to' prevent the government from   infringing on our right to keep and bear arms.


I'd like to know the shooter's history.  I'd like to know about his contacts, teachers, government/state involvement, psychological history, his doctors names, and other associated entities.  

I ask myself if this guy could have been programmed to carryout such a horrific deed.  I ask myself the same questions surrounding the shooting in the movie theater in Aurora, Colorado.

I don't think it wise to underestimate the lengths the government would go to create an anti-second amendment sentiment.  They didn't seem to mind that hundreds of folks would be murdered with firearms walked across our southern border into Mexico.  They wanted the murders, in fact.

Why else would the government not put tracking devices on the firearms like Bush did with his gun walking Operation?

So, Fast and Furious was a disaster for the administration and other proponents of gun control.  Conservatives halted the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty, so that attempt to back-door gun control in our country failed.  

As crazy as it would sound in another era, this day and age I wouldn't put it past this administration (or some clandestine entity of the government) to have something like this occur.  Why?   To further their agenda, of course - Citizen disarmament  in this case.

I don't like thinking this could be a possibility, but I would not rule it out unless I  examined all the facts myself. 

KRAUTHAMMER: JAY CARNEY RESPONSE TO GOP TAX PLAN IS 'IDIOTIC' (VIDEO)

In the following video, Krauthammer characterizes democrat promises of spending cuts against tax increases  as the "football in Charlie Brown all over again".


The Carney response to the latest GOP tax plan (in which  they cave and offer a middle-class-protective tax increases for those  earning  more than $1 million) is so illogical and confounding that Krauthammer says, "I don't k now what Carney is being paid, but it ain't enough when he has to say stuff like that".
